Degree in Social Networking
I agree with the one commentator on Will's blog that said you could debunk any college degree. Technically you could pick up a bunch of books and study for a couple years and say you have the same skills as an English Major.
In my opinion, if you want to spend enough time studying social networking, you should be able to get a degree in it. They could then be the people that come to our schools and show teachers how to bring technology into the classroom.
Everyone is moving forward with technology and so should our college majors.

In the respect that those who obtain this degree could teach the rest of us, I guess I can see your point. My problem is whether or not there is enough "social networking" skills out there to warrant such a degree program. Can't we teach ourselves most of what we need to learn - or get what we need from one or two classes like the 307 class we are in right now?
I feel that this issue could also been seen as an opportunity to revamp even the colligate structure of schooling. The possibilities of college level degrees based on proficiency could help people of lower incomes who have desire to learn but lack the financial means.
In this light, debunking a college degree makes total sense. Having the skills without that pricey little piece of paper severely limits job opportunities, but today that is the way of the world.
I do hope that the degree that I receive will do more than show future employers that have intellectual endurance, but have the skills to teach children how to think critically.
