Getting the Job

My exciting answer to the loaded technology question:

I have created a webpage using IWeb that I will connect to the school's main website. I have created an opening page that explains what the website can be used for and that there will be a class blog for responses to all class work. The website has an about me page for curious students and parents. The website that I have just created will contain book lists that I will constantly be updating, and assignment explanations and due dates.

The class blog will be connected to the website. The blog will be a forum for anonymous discussion about the class, assignments, and new media or literature.

I would attatch everything here but this computer freezes when I attempt to publish the iWeb I just created....

City Voices, City Visions....Just Think

"The ultimate objective of CVCV is fostering student achievement by empowering them with digital video tools for visual/analytic thinking and understanding. "

This is a great goal of the city voices, city visions project. I was unable to view the videos on my computer but I am sure they are great. It is great to see that what we are learning to do in 307 is actually being used in 18 Buffalo public schools. The CVCV classrooms are described in the same way I might describe our 307 class. At any given time, there are students up out of their seats video taping and working with each other to research topics. Students learn by doing just as we do in our 307 class.

Why then are students in most classrooms seated and listening to the teacher? If we know that we ourselves learn better by doing, why not let our students do that as well? Especially with technology, it is much easier to learn how to do or use something by actually doing or using the product.

Just Think...

The first page you open of "Just Think" tells you about the importance of media literacy. Just as I discussed in my previous Hobbs blog, we need to make sure our students can critically analyze all the input they are receiving. We need to shit the landscape of education in America!
